Hey everyone! My name’s Crystal, and I’m a Sophomore in Ms. España’s media studies class. I decided to focus my project on A Quiet Place Part II, which was directed by John Krasinski and shot by Polly Morgan. Krasinski is not only the director but also an actor and writer, and I think that’s what makes his work so personal and emotional. He really knows how to build tension without relying on loud action scenes, which I think is super impressive. Polly Morgan’s cinematography also plays a huge role. She uses natural light and tight shots that make you feel like you’re right there with the characters, holding your breath. I am 15 years old, and I’ve always been interested in how movies can make you feel things just through visuals and sound. That’s what I love most about film, it’s not just about what’s happening, but how it’s shown. Even small sounds or silences can completely change the mood of a scene. I chose film as my medium because it’s honestly the most expressive art form to me. You can mix storytelling, visuals, sound, and emotion all in one place. There’s something magical about how it all comes together to make the audience react or think deeply about something. For my project, I’m leaning toward creating something in the psychological thriller or post-apocalyptic genre, kind of like A Quiet Place. I really like stories that build tension slowly and make people sit on the edge of their seats. I also want to explore themes like family, fear, and survival, especially how silence or sound can completely change a person’s chances of staying alive.
